Expedition Packing List

We’re excited to have you on our upcoming Expedition. Here’s a packing list of gear that you’ll need for the trip, as well as a list of what we provide and what you can rent. Remember everything you bring, is what you’ll be carrying. Be kind to yourself and pack light.

FOOTWEAR
BootsAppropriate hiking / backpacking boots. Need to be broken in before the trip! (MANDATORY 30 days of wear!!!) My favorites are the Asolo Fugitive GTX / Solomon Quest. Don’t be the guy that shows up with new boots!!  
Socks2-3 pairs synthetic or wool mix (no cotton socks), appropriately sized for your foot / boot. Recommend one thin liner sock for blister management. 
Camp shoe / River Crossing Shoes. (MANDATORY)It’s nice to have a lightweight pair of something to wear after a day on the trail. HAS TO BE CLOSED TOE! Crocs are great. 
   
UPPER BODY LAYERS
1-3 T-shirtsSynthetic or wool (light and quick drying) 
Long sleeve base layerSynthetic or wool (light and quick drying) 
Long sleeve bug shirtSynthetic / Old polyester dress shirts work really well!! 
Medium weight warm layerFleece or hoody (synthetic or wool) . NOT COTTON! 
Puffy JacketLight or medium weight, synthetic or down fill. 
Rain jacketABSOLUTELY MANDATORY 
   
LOWER BODY LAYERS
1-4 pairs underwearSynthetic or wool is great but not totally necessary 
Bottom base layerSynthetic or wool (light and quick drying) 
1-2 pair hiking shortLight and quick dry. Awesome to be able to swim in these as well. I just wear one pair, sometimes for weeks at a time. 
1-2 pair hiking pantSynthetic and light is best. I just bring one pair. 
Rain PantsABSOLUTELY MANDATORY 
Gym shorts / swim tunksNice for hot springs or river baths 
   
OTHER
Hat or visor for sun  
Beanie / hat for warmth  
lightweight gloves  
SunglassesWith retention strap 
Water bottles or water bladderNalgene bottles. Have ability to carry at least 3 liters of water
